Nature and color for the channel new image

NOVA, the leading women’s channel in Spain, wanted to refresh its brand image in order to keep its current audience base, but also to attract new viewers. The focus needed to be on the channel content, with clear and easy communication to connect positively and emotionally with the viewers.With this aim in mind we built our rebrand on the strong connection between content and audience. Entertainment, especially soap operas, are a window to different realities and a way to experience other emotions. NOVA is therefore a daily companion, women inspiration and friendly fun.
Our rebrand covered four areas:
- New logo
- Colorful animated illustration backgrounds
- NOVA window key visual + grahic elements
- Inspirational sayings
We simplified the logo by removing shadows and 3D effect creating a flat logo that worked better with images and is easier to integrated more.The logo colour evolved from fuchsia to a more modern, warmer palette. We chose a coral tone, dismissing fuchsia and typical pinks for a more current colour.
Colorful animated illustration backgrounds
To complete the identity package, we designed a collection of colourful backgrounds inspired by nature that provide a fresh and very feminine look. We illustrated12 different backgrounds for the idents, with extras for special occasions like Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Halloween etc. We also created backgrounds for “Next” bumpers and cinema slots.
The combination of the Nova graphic window icon and these backgrounds builds an immediately recognisable identity that grabs viewer attention.
NOVA window key visual
The brand is a window to big stories and new worlds. It’s the entrance to soap operas, movies, the world of fashion and interior design. This window became an essential part of the NOVA’s identity.
We played with the shapes of the letters “n” and the “a” to create a new shape that became the channel’s key visual. This shape became the key the graphic identifier and a device to move the audience through thechannel. Simple and versatile, it helps to frame and categorize information.
Meaningful and inspirational statements also became a new way for NOVA to communicate. Each quote is a little piece of emotion that can quickly catch women’s attention, and they link to or identify with the programming.
It’s a powerful element for building idents and also for the graphic package and social media.
